The Big JC Show

I have something to say!  At least I thought I did until I sat down in front of the microphone, thinking I would just spit out some useful and well-informed ramblings which would become episode number one of my awesome new podcast.  Boyyyy was I mistaken.  Now, I'm not at all afraid to speak in front of people, be judged, or make a fool of myself.  But I do strive for perfection and sometimes might go into projects enthusiastically and under-prepared.  And one of my downfalls has always been persistence.  I have always been able to intuitively pick up on a lot of things but those pursuits (unicycling, whistling with fingers) that didn't come so easily were quickly abandoned.  By the way, I do plan on mastering aforementioned talents, it's in the 5 year plan!

The thing about any artistic venture is you have to remain dedicated and try to create the best things you can even though nobody is watching or listening (yet).  As I was recording these little starter episodes, I was brought back to when I was a kid in my bedroom, pretending to be the radio DJ entertaining with my antics and spinning the hottest hits.  The podcast is going to be an interview-style show with friends and other interesting people.  However, I have found that I had to get the ball rolling myself because nobody wanted to be on episode one!  And that's completely fine.  I have found that sometimes you have to create and build the thing. To show and prove in order to get people involved.  So at this time I'm just Doc putting his time travel machine together!

So, the result of many false starts was a quick 16-minute talk about the first weekend of the Coachella music festival and the loitering arrest of 2 black men at a Philly Starbucks.  And it sucked!  But I had to just sit there and do it.  There were fumbled words, umms, a couple of awkward pauses where I lost my thought, haha.  But it's going to get better, I promise!  I'm just going to keep showing up until this thing is awesome, though!  I'm going to share my story and help motivate people to get out there and write theirs.
